2020 West Potomac Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees​

West Potomac’s Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce its class of 2020 inductees.  The accomplishments of each of these individuals have brought distinction and pride to West Potomac High School and its community.

Amy (Akstin) Meads - Class of 1993

  • Three Sport Athlete (Cross Country, Winter Track & Spring Track & Field)
  • Perennial District Champion in Cross Country & Track
  • 12-time All-Region athlete in Cross Country & Track
  • Washington Post 1st Team All Met Cross Country – 1990, 1991 & 1992
  • Two-time State Runner-up in Cross Country
  • Five-time All State athlete in Cross Country & Track
  • Two-time All-South athlete in Cross Country
  • Team Captain for three Virginia State teams
  • Member of 1990 Virginia State Cross Country Championship Team
  • Member of 1991 Virginia State Cross Country 3rd place Team
  • Member of 1992 Virginia State Cross Country Runner-up Team
  • Athletic Scholarship to run Cross Country at Georgetown University
  • Penn Relay Champion 10,000m run as a collegian
  • Cross Country Team Captain at Georgetown University

  • 6th Place Triple Jump Indoor National Champion – 1986
  • 5th Place Triple Jump Indoor National Champion - 1987
  • Athletic Scholarship to run Track at University of Virginia

  • Washington Post Player of the Week (1992) after posting a 33 point & 10 rebound performance
  • Washington Post Honorable Mention All Met Basketball – 1991/92
  • Top five scorers in Region – 1991/92

  • Played in the Virginia/Maryland Suburban All Star Game - 1992
