West Potomac’s Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce its class of 2020 inductees.  The accomplishments of each of these individuals have brought distinction and pride to West Potomac High School and its community. 

Amy (Akstin) Meads - Class of 1993

  • Three Sport Athlete (Cross Country, Winter Track & Spring Track & Field)
  • Perennial District Champion in Cross Country & Track
  • 12-time All-Region athlete in Cross Country & Track
  • Washington Post 1st Team All Met Cross Country – 1990, 1991 & 1992
  • Two-time State Runner-up in Cross Country
  • Five-time All State athlete in Cross Country & Track
  • Two-time All-South athlete in Cross Country
  • Team Captain for three Virginia State teams
  • Member of 1990 Virginia State Cross Country Championship Team
  • Member of 1991 Virginia State Cross Country 3rd place Team
  • Member of 1992 Virginia State Cross Country Runner-up Team
  • Athletic Scholarship to run Cross Country at Georgetown University
  • Penn Relay Champion 10,000m run as a collegian
  • Cross Country Team Captain at Georgetown University

Cornell Grayson - Class of 1987

  • Two Sport Athlete (Winter Track & Spring Track & Field)
  • Six-time Triple Jump District Champion
  • Four-time Triple Jump Region Champion
  • Current Northern Region record holder for Triple Jump:  Indoor (50’4”); Spring (49’10”)
  • Triple Jump State Champion – 1986
  • Washington Post 1st Team All Met – 1986 & 1987
  • 6th Place Triple Jump Indoor National Champion – 1986
  • 5th Place Triple Jump Indoor National Champion - 1987
  • Athletic Scholarship to run Track at University of Virginia
  • Two-time ACC Triple Jump Champion

Stacy Harris - Class of 1992

  • Four Sport Athlete (Football, Basketball, Baseball & Spring Track & Field)
  • All District & All Region Track athlete in High Jump, Long Jump & Triple Jump – 1991
  • 2nd Team All District Basketball – 1990/91
  • 1st Team All District Basketball – 1991/92
  • 1st Team All Region Basketball – 1991/92
  • Washington Post Player of the Week (1992) after posting a 33 point & 10 rebound performance
  • Washington Post Honorable Mention All Met Basketball – 1991/92
  • Top five scorers in Region – 1991/92
  • Tip-Off Club All Region Team – 1991/92
  • Played in the Virginia/Maryland Suburban All Star Game - 1992
  • Athletic Scholarship to play basketball at College of Charleston

Natalie Miller - Class of 1997

  • Field Hockey:  As goalkeeper was unscored upon in District - 1996
  • Two-time All District Field Hockey – 1994 & 1995

  • Lacrosse:  holds school record for 43 goals in a season

​Carol Horton - 1985-2001

  • Virginia High School Coaches Association Field Hockey Coach of the Year – 1993
  • Virginia High School Coaches Association Victory Milestone Award Rings: 200 wins – 1991; 270 wins 1997
  • Won 7 District Championships, 5 Region Championships, 1 Region runner-up title & 2 State Runner-up titles in Field Hockey
  • The Fairfax Journal Field Hockey Coach of the Year – 1985, 1987 & 1999
  • The Mount Vernon Gazette Field Hockey Coach of the Year – 1987
  • Retired coaching Field Hockey with 300 wins
  • Over 15 former Field Hockey players have gone on to coach Field Hockey in the high school or collegiate level
